Bio
Anna L. Davis joined Gordon, Wolf & Carney, CHTD as Of Counsel in 2020 to spearhead the firm’s SSDI & SSI (Social Security Disability Insurance & Supplemental Security Income) practice. She brings over 30 years of experience in disability rights, public health law, and family law to her role.
Ms. Davis has a distinguished background that centers on the intersection of law and public health. Her key areas of focus and experience include:
- Social Security Disability & SSI: Leading the firm’s practice and leveraging extensive experience in disability rights.
- Public Health Law and Policy: Focused her research on how law and policy can mitigate health disparities and enhance public health outcomes.
- Academic Appointment: She held a faculty appointment from 2011 to 2021 in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHBSPH).
- Clinic Co-founder: Ms. Davis co-founded the Clinic for Public Health Law and Policy at JHBSPH, providing students with practical opportunities to apply law and policy to real-world public health challenges.
- Family Law: Ms. Davis has experience in family law, including teaching a family health course that examined the impact of policies and laws on family health across the life course.
Ms. Davis has actively contributed to legal and public health discourse, including serving as a guest editor for a Special Supplement to the Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics and co-authoring peer-reviewed articles. Her commitment extends to public service through various appointments and board memberships. She was appointed as a Commissioner by Governor Hogan in 2017 to the Maryland Lead Poisoning Prevention Commission. She previously served on Boards of Advocates for Children and Youth and the Jewish Women’s Giving Foundation of the Associated Jewish Charities and currently serves on the Board of the Maryland Citizens’ Health Initiative, Inc.
Ms. Davis holds an AV Preeminent® rating from the Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™, the highest possible rating for professional excellence. She was also recognized as a “Leadership in Law” Honoree by The Maryland Daily Record in 2018.
