What Is the Do Not Call Registry or Do Not Call List?

Gordon, Wolf & Carney Aug. 28, 2020

The National Do Not Call Registry is a list of phone numbers maintained by the Federal Trade Commission, or FTC. Under the Telemarketing Sales Rule, or “TSR,” no phone numbers on the Do Not Call Registry may be used by telemarketers to sell goods or services through interstate phone calls.

Even if your phone number is on the Do Not Call List, however, the TSR does not prohibit calls from businesses that have an existing business relationship with you, political organizations, charities, or surveys.

How Can I Get on the Do Not Call List?

It’s easy to get on the Do Not Call Registry! You can sign up online, or you can call from the phone you want to register.

Why Am I Getting Unwanted Calls When I’m On the Do Not Call List?

If you are getting unwanted calls from businesses when you are on the Do Not Call List, call or text the lawyers at Gordon, Wolf & Carney. You may be entitled to recover as much as $500 or more per unlawful call or text under the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act, or TCPA.
